Chair Cat Stretch

Yoga In 60 Seconds ~ Chair Cat Stretch

Spine mobiliser on a chair

A seated variation of a yoga staple, the cat & cow flow but on a chair!  This chair cat stretch makes it accessible for anyone who can’t be on their knees on all fours.  You can still enjoy the benefits of moving the spine through flexion (forward bending) and extension (backward bending) all from the comfort of a chair.  If you’re sitting right now, give it a go because everyone can benefit from this!

Flowing with the breath helps to keep you focused, more aware of the subtle movement of the vertebrae, and slows things down.  You can do it without moving your arms if you are in a public place or at your desk at work, unless you like drawing attention to yourself, in which case, go right ahead my friend!  I’ve included 3 variations here so try them all, mix them around and let me know how you like them.

If you’d like to try the more classic version on the ground and can easily kneel then follow this link to this cat stretch video >>
