Balancing Leg Workout For Strength

Yoga In 60 Seconds ~ Balancing Leg Workout For Strength

Yogic Leg Workout To Challenge Your Balance

If you’ve followed me for a while, you may be a little sick of hearing me say “Balancing is a constant work in progress” but it is TRUE. You are never done and if you don’t keep working on it, you will lose it (literally!).

That might not sound like a big deal but losing our balance skills leaves us at greater risk of injury, particularly as we age. If you want to keep doing the things you love for longer then making balancing skills a part of your weekly routine is a must.

This strengthening balance has a moderate challenge level and you will need a block or a nice big book, old phone books work great.  Embrace the wobbles, it’s your brain trying to work it out, and guess what?  That is how your balancing improves!  Wobbling is a sign to keep practicing and is preferable to falling.  It’s also a challenging leg workout as you have to switch on some of those bigger leg muscles and the glutes to keep you stable.

Why Balancing Leg Workouts Are Important

Research shows that balancing exercises are beneficial for falls prevention.

A 2013 Study published in BMJ found exercise programs reduce falls that cause injuries by 37%, serious injuries by

43% , and broken bones by 61% (El-Khoury et Al, 2013)

I hope that gives you some more incentive to get practicing!
